Our Values

When we first told people what we wanted Noise to be, the responses ranged from "stupid" to "this will never work". A few VCs told us flat-out that no one would ever want a product like this. In those early days, with no users to point to, we had to rely on instinct and keep moving anyway. We searched for answers in places others considered "unimportant". We chugged along rejection after rejection.

We'll never forget the day we launched our beta. Overnight, Noise was everywhere, and suddenly, an attention market "just made sense" to everyone. The lesson from that first year is simple: being contrarian is never comfortable. Most people believe that what is working will always work. They mistake competition for validation. It's far more interesting to seek nonobvious truths, to remain product first, and to ship new things. That's how we've always moved forward, and it's how we always will.

In the first year, we spent months cycling through Figma mockups, swapping designs, and redrawing frontends. We couldn't figure out what the first product for trading trends should look like. Eight versions later (including an interface inspired by Flappy Bird), we were still mulling over the same questions. We obsessed over small decisions like a single word in copy and debated for hours without moving forward. With a bit of wisdom, we realized our mistake was rather simple. We were stalling in thought rather than seeking answers from those who had them.

We started testing with users right away and pushing designs into the product faster. By watching how people actually used what we built, data replaced speculation. That same approach applies everywhere. Unsure if your code will work? Run it. Unsure if a data provider is good enough? Get trial access. Unsure how users will respond? Put it in front of them.

Problems are the nature of business. Iterate, solve them creatively, and move on. Seek truth rapidly.

Getting the exchange right for Noise has been one of the hardest challenges we've faced. Endless paths, ethical tradeoffs, and technical complexity. The summer of 2025 was a painful stretch when ideological debate dragged on and differing opinions took precedence over action. We learned the hard way that the most dangerous thing in a startup isn't making the wrong call, it's not making one at all. The only way forward was to strip things down to first principles, choose a path, and move. Out of that came a lesson we'll carry forever: Noise is a collective, and everyone is expected to challenge with facts and conviction, even when it's uncomfortable. But once a decision is made, the debate ends. We commit as one, own the outcome, and execute together. Consensus is optional. Alignment is mandatory.

Noise as a product and as a brand will always carry the imprint of those who build it. The first Macintosh team left their mark in 1984, engraving their names beneath each computer's motherboard. Great artists sign their work even if no one else ever sees it. What a team creates is inseparable from who they are.

We are extremely lucky to work on a novel business. Our collective taste will always show through our products. The way we think, argue, and work with each other flows into how good the product feels and how timely we bring it to market. This is a reminder to act. Design from taste. Operate on conviction over consensus. Replace second-rate experiences. Craft a product that feels like our vision. To action your taste is to leave a piece of yourself in Noise.
